Eva Dellow is a Director of Curvwood – a creative and a born organiser. She liaises with clients and looks after administration, accounts, quotes, OHS and marketing. With a keen eye for detail and a passion for design, she’s involved with every Curvwood creation. And with everything she takes on, she does exceptionally well.
Before Curvwood, Eva was in a different creative sphere.
“I spent most of my career in media sales, across radio and magazine, at 2GB and ACP (now Bauer). My focus was really on relationship management… writing proposals, building positive relationships with advertisers.”
She also spent four years as Community Fundraising Manager for The Sydney Children’s Hospital Foundation… “an incredible, wonderful organisation.”
Truett and Eva always wanted to start their own business and in 2016 took a leap of faith and started their first joinery business, Mezzaluna, a creative workshop specialising in timber products and furniture for events, visual merchandising, event styling and hospitality.
It’s creativity and a passion for curved wood that are the driving forces behind Curvwood. When she’s not devoting her time to timber and her two beautiful children, she indulges in her other passions – visiting galleries, rollerblading and creating and exhibiting large-scale abstract paintings.
“I just love being involved in glulam design. It inspires me and in a way it’s very similar to painting. You start with a blank canvas before taking the steps to the final creation, and it’s that journey that is most exciting.”
Eva and Truett started Curvwood with a clear focus – to create beautiful, sustainable and meticulously crafted curved wood and to give it everything they have. “I do think the days I feel most energised are when I’ve completed a lot. I get a buzz from building… and doing.”
Family is another motivator.
“I want to be a great example for our kids. I want them to see us build this business, build beautiful glulam fabrication… and enjoy the journey. You need to love what you do while you make a life – and do it with honesty, courage… and integrity.”
